Medical Weight Loss

Obesity is a serious health problem that is becoming more and more prevalent. More than two-thirds of adults in the United States are overweight or have obesity.

What are the major factors causing obesity?

Obesity is the result of many factors, including genetics, diet, lifestyle and more. Some of the major causes are overeating, low levels of physical activity and a lack of education on healthy food choices. One major factor in obesity is a person's metabolism. People who have slow metabolisms will have difficulty losing weight because their bodies need fewer calories to function. Hormone imbalances can also cause obesity by increasing appetite or decreasing energy expenditure. There are also those who suffer from pre-diabetic syndrome X or metabolic syndrome which causes weight gain because of insulin resistance and high blood pressure among other things.

What are the risks of obesity?
Obesity is a huge risk for individuals and is one of the leading causes of death. Obesity has been linked to high blood pressure, cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. In addition, obese people are more likely to develop other serious illnesses such as stroke, cancer or arthritis.

What’s included in our Medical Weight Loss program?

1. Evaluation/Assessment:
Each program is customized based on physical evaluation and health assessment. Based on your physical condition such as body mass index (BMI), weight circumference, blood pressure and other vitals as well as your medical history, we aim to create an effective weight loss program for your needs.

2. Lab work:
In addition to the basic physical exam, we also run lab work that measures other key factors that impact your metabolism and weight gain such as hormone levels, inflammatory markers, Vitamin D3 level, Lipid profile, Iron, B12, etc.

3. Nutrition/ Diet:
Based on the findings of physical evaluation and results of lab work, we will design diet that can help you achieve your weight loss target. Here are some diet tips such as increasing your water/liquid intake, lower carbohydrate consumption, cut out sugars, eat more vegetables, time-restricted eating and intermittent fasting.

4. Activity/ Exercise:
We also design different activities/exercises of different intensity to help boost your metabolism - such as HIT, aerobic & anaerobic exercise, full-body workout, all-out bursts and many other effective activities for weight loss.

5. Supplement & medication:

When it comes to taking supplement and/or medication for weight loss, there is no one size fits all.
