Cellular and Regenerative Therapy

In many cases of spine or joint tissue damage/injury physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic care, anti-inflammatory medication and even surgical procedures are not enough to repair the injury and return the body to its previous state. Regenerative injection based therapies is a revolutionary technique using growth factors to regenerate damaged tissue and help the body recover naturally.

Dr. Damon Noto is one of the first doctors in the New York and New Jersey area to perform regenerative therapy procedures. Approximately 86% of patients surveyed who have undergone PRP or Regenerative Therapies report being satisfied with their treatment and say that they would do it again.

Please note that patients with active cancer and/or infections are not candidates for PRP or regenerative therapies. NSAID users will be required to suspend their medication several days before their injections and for 2 days afterward.

FAQ

Stem cells are the body’s “repairmen” – when directed to the site of an injury or a damaged tissue area, these parent cells can develop into any kind of cell that the body needs to repair the damage and help heal the injury.

Advances in regenerative medicine have enabled us to use the healing factors within our own blood to decrease pain, improve function and regenerate meniscal tears, rotator cuff tendonitis, and hip osteoarthritis. We spin down the extracted blood to obtain the powerful growth factors that regrow tissue and heal chronic tears and cartilage loss. All of this is done with injections of these materials into the damaged injured area. In severe cases we now have the option of combining arthroscopic surgery with regenerative therapy to produce excellent results.

In your first appointment, we will perform an evaluation to determine the best regenerative treatment option for you. In another appointment, we will perform the actual injection/procedure. Dr. Noto will inject concentrated growth factors into the joint or spinal injury  using either mild sedation or local anesthesia. You will experience minimal discomfort.

Tissue typically takes between 2 and 3 months to repair itself, but most patients notice a change in their symptoms within six to eight weeks. While the total number of injections required may vary depending on age and the type and severity of the condition, most patients require 2-3 sets of injections spaced apart.

Yes! Regenerative Therapy can treat disc annular tears, disc bulges/protrusions and disc herniations. In cases where the disc herniation is very large or the disc is very damaged we offer the option of minimally invasive spinal decompression and combine that procedure with either PRP or growth factors. The effect is often synergistic and in many cases very powerful.
